Dishoom Diwali 2025: Birmingham

We were extremely excited to bring our big, loud, bright, colourful Diwali celebrations to Birmingham for the very first time. Diwali, or the Festival of Lights, is celebrated in Bombay and across the world, welcoming in light, goodness and hope along with the New Year. Families gather, neighbours swap mithai, fireworks paint the skies in glittering colours, and pure joy fills the air. It's the beautiful triumph of light over darkness, good over evil.

We lit up Birmingham with a night of delicious food, beautiful mehendi, brilliant music, dancing and New Year revelry.

We had a thrilling line-up, curated by BBC Asian Network – a station proudly based in Birmingham that has consistently championed South Asian creatives and music, bringing people together through powerful storytelling and sound. For Dishoom Diwali, they crafted a line-up glittering with trailblazing South Asian sounds to set hearts alight and inspire connection. Guests shimmied into the New Year with hands adorned beautifully with intricate mehendi.
